Russia is going to introduce an embargo on imports of Moldovan wine, if Moldova doesn’t solve its wine production quality problems soon. This is what Russian chief sanitary doctor Genadii Onishechko warned. In his words, if the situation hasn’t changed in two weeks, then Russia will have to ban the import of Moldovan wine. According to the Russian health authorities the wine contains dangerous substances. Meanwhile, Moldovan Minister of Agriculture and Food Valeriu Cosarciuc denied the Russian claims. He said that the decision made by Rospotrebnadzor, the Russian service of sanitary control, was political, Moldovan newspaper Panorama reads. Experts warn that a possible ban on imports of Moldovan wine in Russia could lead to an economic catastrophe in Moldova.
