Ghimpu encourage Italian operators to invest in Moldova PDF Print E-mail

Ghimpu Parliament President, Interim President of the Republic, became an honorary member of the European Academy for Economic and Cultural Relations in Rome. Handing distinction took place yesterday evening after a meeting with a group of Italian businessmen.

Ghimpu appealed to Italian businessmen to encourage them to invest in Moldovan economy, arguing the appeal by the country's advantageous geographic location and economic legislation favorable to foreign investment. The president said that he expects foreign investment areas for upgrade or recovery are particularly that of agriculture and infrastructure.

"We expect to Chisinau and invites you to invest in Moldovan economy and this will assist in developing our state's economic achievement of European integration course. We commend the Italian entrepreneurs in Moldova, which are important in developing investment cooperation Moldovan-Italian relations, and modernization of the Moldovan economy, "said Ghimpu.

However, the President expressed the Moldovan leadership's willingness to provide all necessary assistance to business activity in Moldova. In the same context, the President made reference to discussions with a group of Italian businessmen, investors in different fields, present in Chisinau, adding that Moldova is a trusted partner.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics data, Moldova 430 companies working with Italian capital. During the year 2009 was granted the right to work in Moldova for 63 Italians, 63 of whom were founders of enterprises registered in Moldova, and has extended the right to work for 52 Italians.

Meeting President Ghimpu with a group of businessmen from Italy, was organized by European Academy for Economic and Cultural Relations, a department of the Italian National Organization of industrial development, trade and crafts.

Ghimpu made an official visit to Italy on 23-26 May 2010, at the invitation of President of the Chamber of Deputies Gianfranco Fini of Italy.
