Moldova is another step towards Europe PDF Print E-mail

Moldovan Prime Filat, attended Tuesday's official launch of negotiations on liberalization of visa regime between Moldova and the European Union. Start negotiations took place within the Cooperation between Moldova and the European Union, which was held Tuesday in Luxembourg. The event was attended by Moldovan Foreign Minister, Leanca Deputy Valeriu Lazar, Minister of Economic, Victor Osipov and Minister responsible for reintegration, Alexandru Tanase. After the Council meeting, Prime Minister Filat, European Commissioner for Enlargement, Stefan Fule, and Secretary of State within the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Diego Lopez Garrido, held a press conference. Stefan Fule said that relations between Moldova and the European Union are dynamic. "It is almost incredible how much Moldova has managed to obtain only a few months," said Fule. European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy, Stefan Fule, described as "incredible" progress in a few months to Moldova in the European Union approach, according Interlic page online. According to him, the previous Council meeting, held in December 2009, Moldova was able to meet commitments: March to launch negotiations for Association Agreement and human rights. The Commissioner explained that this proves the Moldovan government commitment to the idea of European integration. "It's a very good day for Moldova because today I decided to launch negotiations between Moldova and EU on liberalization of visa regime and on the second day in Brussels will be held the first round of this dialogue (. ..)", commissioner said. Stefan Fule said the ultimate goal of negotiations is to give the Moldovan citizens the right to move freely within the European Union.
