Amnesty International criticizes Italy heavily on immigration: according to the NGO, the Italian authorities "have jeopardized the rights of migrants and asylum seekers" and their own lives, leaving them at sea for days without food or water. " Allegations that Foreign Minister Franco Frattini rejected the sender branded as "shameful." Today the Pope received participants in the plenary session of the Pontifical Council for Pastoral Care of Migrants.
