Tsvetanov told public broadcaster Bulgarian TV (BNT) that two new centers for asylum and were prepared to Liubimet Pustrogor, but if the tide of immigrants increased dramatically, "other measures will be implemented." Warnings on the risk of escalating tensions in the Middle East and North Africa would lead to a wave of refugees in Bulgaria have been launched since last week, analysts saying the country's policies on immigration and trafficking will be tested against the extreme. Italy has already experienced large numbers of refugees in Tunisia, after protests led to the removal from power of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.
