More immigrants means more crime. And among the foreign communities that have the lowest ratio between the load of criminal charges and number of nationals residing in Italy, there are Moldovans, Romanians, Albanians and Chinese. The notes to the CNEL, in the annual report, 484 pages, now in its seventh year, on "Indices of integration of immigrants in Italy." From 2005 to 2008, notes the CNEL, "foreign residents increased by 45.7%, while complaints against them have grown only 19 percent." In absolute terms, the report shows, the total number of complaints (relating to Italian and foreign combined) was in 2005 to 2,579,124 in 2006 to 2,771,440 in 2007 to 2,993,146, and 2,694,811 in 2008. Of these, the number of how many concerned citizens of 248,291 foreigners in 2005, 275,482 in 2006, 299,874 in 2007 and 297,708 in 2008. Assuming, then, to emphasize the Deputy Chairman of the national coordination of policies for integration of foreigners of the CNEL, Giorgio Alessandrini, that "the increase of complaints against foreigners in 2008, compared to 2005 is attributable to foreign registered as new residents, we come to the conclusion there that the newcomers there is a reported every 25 persons (excluding irregular and passing strangers), while the responsibility of all residents in Italy (Italians and foreigners), there is a reported each 22 individuals and is thus a fall injury to a greater danger of foreigners. With respect, then, individual communities, immigrants from Moldova can be considered the most virtuous (the difference between the percentage of complaints and that of residents is 9.6 points in favor of the latter). Following are the Romanians (-6.5%), Albanians (-4.8%) and China (-1.8 percent). Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Egypt and Nigeria together accounted for 29.6% instead of complaints against foreigners, even if the residents are only 18.7% of the immigrant population. Emilia Romagna is confirmed, moreover, the region with the highest potential for integration in Italy, and Sicily offers conditions more equal socio-employment between immigrants and Italians. Also good performance in the behavior of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lombardy, Lazio and Veneto. Taillights: Abruzzo, Puglia and Sardinia. Among the provinces, pride of place in Parma, Reggio Emilia and followed by Vicenza. A curiosity, finally, the opportunities for job placement. In 2008, the foreign community to have had the best level of employment, compared to the number of fellow residents, were those from India, Romania, Moldova, Albania, Ukraine and Morocco. Intermediate position for Chinese, Filipinos, Peruvians. Few, however, employment opportunities for immigrants from Sri Lanka, Ecuador, Pakistan and Nigeria. Source: Il Sole 24 Ore |
