According to official information, in Moldova, the poverty they live more than 26% of the country's citizens. The most disadvantaged categories of population are young couples who have children and families with many children in rural areas. These people have an average monthly income of 945 lei.

According to statistics, from 1990 to 2009, meat consumption per capita decreased by about 50 percent. Compared with 1990, in 2009, consumption of dairy products fell by 46 percent, and the fruit of 56 percent. Consumption of bakery products per capita fell from 1990 until last year, up 30 percent.
Moldova is poor and wages section. With a minimum wage of 60 euros, our country ranks last among European countries. If a minimum monthly wage in Bulgaria is 123 euros in Romania of 153 euros and 232 euros in Latvia, in Ireland it arrives at 1462 euros and Luxembourg - in 1642 euros.
In this hub, a large part of household income from remittances of Moldovans working in other countries. Only in January-August period in the country reached 763 million dollars.
Sunday, October 17 marked World Day for the Eradication of Poverty. It was established by the UN General Assembly in 1992. Although some progress has been made in efforts to raise living standards, poverty remains a problem in the 21st century humanity.
