Explosion at Russian Embassy in Athens. A suspicious package exploded at the Russian embassy shortly after Greek police detonated a suspicious package sent to Embassy of Chile, a bomb exploded at the Swiss embassy and another suspicious package was detonated Bulgarian Embassy to the control.  The package was addressed to the Chilean embassy in the Parliament controlled detonated. "An employee of a courier company became suspicious and stopped in front of Parliament," said an official. Also, a police patrol was targeted by gunfire in a suburb of the Greek capital. Police also announced that it conducted a controlled detonation of a package sent to the Bulgarian embassy in Athens. Suspicious package received from the Bulgarian embassy in Athens in fact contained explosives, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said, according to Focus news. The incidents involved four parcels under the bombs were discovered Monday in Athens, and French leader Nicolas Sarkozy was one of their recipients. One of the bombs, to the Mexican Embassy in Athens, exploded in the offices of a courier company, injuring one employee. Two other parcels were for Belgian and Dutch embassies. |
