They were discovered in Egypt, ancient by infrared scanning, from a satellite, 17 pyramids, over 1,000 villages and 3,000 ancient tombs, excavations confirming initial scan results, reports BBC News.
The researchers used satellite images to find out to 700 kilometers above the Earth, equipped with cameras so powerful that they can accurately image objects with a diameter of less than 1 meter from the surface of the planet. Infrared rays have been used to distinguish between the various materials used in construction.

Ancient Egyptians built their earth brick buildings, which are much denser than the surrounding soil, so as houses, temples and tombs can be seen. According to archaeologist Sarah Parcak, sponsored by NASA project leader, the pyramids and settlements could be the most important archaeological site in Egypt.
