(AFP) - Chisinau, 28 June - For the first time in its history, Moldova is today celebrating the day of remembrance of 'the Soviet occupation'. An event that has raised many controversies in the former Soviet republic - then called - of Moldova. The days of Soviet occupation''and'''was set up by pro-Western president Mihai Ghimpu, recalling June 28, 1940, when Soviet troops occupied the region of Bessarabia, then part of Romania. Bessarabia was renamed Moldova from Moscow, a country that regained its independence only in the Soviet Union collapsed and that it 'was ruled by a Communist Party until last year.  Russia has already 'Ghimpu criticized the initiative of the President, accused of blasphemy''and''want to''distort the common history.'' ''I have no political interest behind this celebration.
