An explosion took place today, April 11 at Metro in Minsk, Belarus' capital, until now there is at least seven dead and 80 wounded. The explosion took place at local time 18:00, Oktiabrskaia metro station, located just 100 meters from the residence presededintelui Belarus. Witnesses quoted by Reuters mention of black smoke that rises from the mouth of the subway. Metro circulation was disrupted and all passengers evacuated. Mobile phones do not work in some areas of the city, and alarms can be heard throughout Minsk, Russia Today reports. Belarusian state television reported that seven out of 50 injured people died there, while the state news agency, Belta, mentions, besides the dead, at least 70 wounded, 40 were transported to hospital.
Presidential Administration confirmed that the explosion has taken a toll. President Alexander Lukashenko ordered the wounded to receive all necessary assistance, as well as their relatives. He said it was too early to talk about a terrorist attack and that an official investigation is in progress.
However, an official said on condition of anonymity that "The main hypothesis of the investigation is an act of terrorism", according to Interfax.
