On February 14, 2010, President CJ Iasi, Constantin Simirad, urged support of Iasi parliamentarians in building a bridge over the Prut river, which will link Ungheni Iasi in Moldova and Ungheni area and construction of a Romanian university in Ungheni (RM), the open model in Cahul. At a recent meeting which was attended by 11 of the 17 MPs Iasi, Constantin Simirad said the bridge construction project was discussed with Moldovan officials in recent visit to Moldova by the Romanian delegation.
