Yesterday, took place in Chisinau Moldovan-Italian inter-ministerial consultations on consular matters conducted under the auspices of the Foreign Ministries of both countries. Delegations consisting of representatives of ministries of foreign affairs, ministries of labor and social protection, and internal affairs ministries have exchanged views on the current state of the Moldovan-Italian relations in those areas.
During the consultations have begun talks on an agreement for social protection, a crucial document, which would contribute substantially to protect the rights of Moldovan citizens who are legally in the Italian Republic.
In the context of deepening bilateral judicial framework, have been negotiated three other important documents, including agreement on cooperation in labor migration and its implementing Protocol Agreement on the repatriation of minors who are without accompanying Moldovans in Italy, and the Protocol Implementation Agreement on the readmission of persons residing without authorization, signed between Moldova and the EU.
In this respect, the projects were considered those documents, the texts will be submitted for approval to the ministries and institutions in charge of the two countries.
In the discussions it was noted that there is a special character of the Moldovan-Italian relations. In this context, the signing of labor migration, social protection and the Protocol on readmission will open new opportunities for deepening bilateral relations and contribute to the intense dynamics of the existing dialogue.
Under the MFA, consultations took place as a direct result of agreements reached after talks in November 2010 in Rome between the Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Moldova and Italy, and Franco Frattini Leanca in which special attention was paid to measures of social protection of Moldovan citizens living legally in Italy.
