Despair and a desire to ensure a better life for my kids convinced me to leave, I had a job but the pay was very low and not even enough for the necessary. It was not easy to decide. In the end I decided: I left the house, children, mom. I left my Moldova. Do you know what and where is Moldova?

read in the original
Moldova (or Moldova) is a European country that borders in the south, east and north with the West with Ukraine and Romania and has a history going back centuries and cultures. In 1991, Moldova proclaimed its independence and since then has become the official language of the Rumanian. Before Moldova was part of the Soviet Union and perhaps this is why we are often mistaken for Russians in Moldova. The multiethnic character of this country has not destroyed its traditions, but on the contrary has enriched with new colors, transforming them into a customs union of the original (handmade), rites and ceremonies. The capital of Moldova is the city of Chsinau which is a modern metropolis with wide streets and avenues, with many museums and theaters. Chisinau is located in the central part of the country and is named "flower of white stone in a sea green", because it is situated on seven green hills and the vineyards: a fairytale landscape.
The Moldova enjoys a favorable climate and an agricultural land, but has no major mineral deposits, so the economy depends on agriculture and especially from fruits, vegetables, tobacco and wine. It will also why on the geographical map Moldova resembles a bunch of grapes and, of course, is famous for its wines even beyond national borders. Despite the political and social changes Moldovans have preserved for centuries as a special hospitality. Each guest receives a warm welcome and is always welcomed in the best way. The landlord offered him a glass of wine and the best dishes of the cuisine of Moldova, which are chicken soup, noodles, rolls of grape leaves with rice and minced meat, fried pork (similar to ' roast) served with polenta.
After the fall of the Soviet Union, the Moldovan economy suffered a severe recession and, despite a small recovery since 2000, my remains one of the poorest countries of Europe. So people start to move to a place perhaps best to look for work: to ensure a better life and a future for their families. You have to have courage and good fortune for the journey that is very tough and also expensive. It goes against the dangers and you never know how and where to arrive.

Often we arrive illegally and without knowledge of Moldovan language. Many can not find no jobs or housing and must cope with difficult situations. The majority are women (one of them are too) that our country put in place decent work: nurses, accountants, teachers, graduates in medicine, literature, psychology ... but coming here radically change their life and activity, working as assistants to families, the so-called carers.
But what does it mean "caretaker"? I have not found the explanation of this word in any dictionary but I explained that derives from the word regardless and referred to animals, use it for people seems a bit 'degrading. Perhaps this is where many have already given the idea that it is often wrong and is intended as a sentence for people who once migrated from their country are poor and humble and you can treat as we please, by slaves or worse. Such as not pay them nor respect them for what they are, in their culture and individuality.
These women are also various other nationalities: Ukrainian, Romanian, Georgian and Russian, from here is that migration affects all countries of the world: the Italians have immigrated to America years ago, France, Switzerland ... and as such should be more understanding towards foreigners. In the mountains there are plenty of "carers", because unfortunately the mountain population is mostly elderly people who need assistance, often live alone in small villages with few inhabitants, elderly who have had the opportunity to study and have that only elementary schools and speak the dialect, such as elderly and hard to create a relationship of communication, so for our women increases the sense of loneliness. Fortunately, on Sunday, which for many is the day off, foreign women organized several meetings to share their experiences, speak their language and being in the company.
I was fortunate to meet so many Italians in the leg, such as the policeman of Collagna: Alfio Fiorini is always ready to help by providing information about the amnesty for foreigners and, if so, whether there are changes or new. About a year ago, he and Augustine Santini restaurateur Agriturismo Valbona organized a party for foreign women with lunch followed by an evening dance. A beautiful celebration, we hope that if they organize others, because it is a great way to know, understand and create new friendships.
Another person who has played an important role in my life is my current husband, who gave me the opportunity to put my life and my son to get to Italy and study it: this year made the first institution of higher mountains it Castelnovo
We are in XXI century where technology has surpassed all limits, but we can not accept that despite our cultures, social levels, nationality, our stories are so much alike that we are all basically the same: human beings.

THE AUTHOR OF THIS BOOK: Carolina Cernautan comes from Chisinau, which with its 780,000 inhabitants is the capital of Moldova or Moldova. Graduated in violin, he courageously confronted life's trials that led to look with great willpower, his America here in the Apennines. Since its Valbona, this corresponds to eyes that are special from the East tells the vision of our mountain. To find out how we are seen by those coming from afar. And also to find ourselves in those coming from afar.
